The Devouring Gray: Book Review

Emily James

Many readers are impressed and excited about the novel, The Devouring Gray. This book was published on April 2, 2019, and has been an all-time favorite since.

Here is a summary provided by, Uprooted from the city, Violet Saunders doesn’t have much hope of fitting in at her new school in Four Paths, a town almost buried in the woodlands of rural New York. The fact that she’s descended from one of the town’s founders doesn’t help much, either—her new neighbours treat her with distant respect, and something very like fear. When she meets Justin, May, Isaac, and Harper, all children of founder families, and sees the otherworldly destruction they can wreak, she starts to wonder if the townsfolk are right to be afraid.

This novel is recommended for audiences who are interested in horror, LGBT, fiction, mystery, fantasy, and more! While Christine Lynn Herman includes more mature themes inside of this book, it is still highly recommended among middle school students.

“I would be interested in reading this book. It seems like it has a good plot!” Said Harper Gregg, 7.

Hopefully you will look into this spooky and thought-provoking novel! Regardless, we hope you enjoyed learning about The Devouring Gray!
