First Band Concert of the Year

Emily James

On Thursday, October 14, the WSMS band at their first concert of the year at LHS. Band students worked hard for weeks to learn a series of diverse music pieces, including a famous piece by Camille Saint-Saëns.

“I though the concert was nice, but maybe next time we should practice the music a little more,” said Anson Phan, 7.

The first portion of the concert was played by the Symphonic band students and the music selection was just excellent. Songs included, Antiquitus by Joseph Compello, Inferno in the Lost Pines by Katrina Lauren Hoover, and Crunch Time by  James Swearingen. Many Symphonic band students were proud of their performance, but said they still had some work to do. They hope to perform better in upcoming concerts. The second portion of the concert was played by the Wind Ensemble, with three pieces: Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns, Dark Ride by Randall D. Standridge, and Spirit of Liberty by John Philip Sousa.

Overall, students had an excellent time showing off their skills, and are looking forward to their next performance, which will be the Christmas Concert in December. We hope to see you for the next concert!
