After 18 seasons and tons of toxic family drama; the time has come. In an Instagram post from Kim Kardashian on Tuesday, she states that Keeping Up With the Kardashians is coming to an end.
In Kim’s post, she says “I wouldn’t be where I am today without the show”, which is true. The fame they gained from the show caused them to be able to do great things and grow them into the women they are today. Kim has a shapewear company, Kourtney has a lifestyle brand, and Khloe has a denim company. Kylie has a makeup/skincare brand and Kendall is an international model.
On Tuesday, Kris Jenner opens up on On Air With Ryan Seacrest about how the family is dealing with the ending of KUWTK. When asked about why the show was being canceled, Kris says “the number 20 [seasons] just sounded like a good time for us to take a minute and breathe and everybody slow down for a minute… figure out what our next steps are.” it seems like the family took the show very seriously and the cancellation was not an easy decision. Also on the talk show, Kris said that Khloe was taking it the hardest; when they decided to end the show Khloe Kardashian “couldn’t stop crying”.
Page Six, says “We are also exclusively — and empathetically — told that Kanye West’s mental health plays no role in the decision to go off the air. Kanye West is Kim Kardashian’s third husband and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2017, which he released publicly in 2018.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians sparked 12 spin-off shows over the years, some being “I am Cait” which is about Caitlyn Jenner (ex-spouse of Kris Jenner’s) transitioning and “Revenge Body With Khloe Kardashian” which is about Khloe finally finding a body she is confident in and taking other people on that journey with her.
Prior to the final cancellation of the show, Kourtney Kardashian threatened multiple times to quit, and she finally pulled the plug back in March 2020. When speaking with Vogue Arabia about leaving the show, she says it’s because she was feeling “unfulfilled and it was becoming a toxic environment.”
All around the world, people find the constant bickering between relatives amusing and entertaining. Now, we’ll have to keep up with the Kardashians through shady sub-tweets and People Magazine.
