How WSMS Students Feel about the Cellphone Policy

Many WSMS students have different thoughts about the school phone policy, which was put in place last year, and banned the use of phones at school.

“I’m okay with the policy. Overall, I think it’s good because the students can’t get distracted, ” said Chase Luther, 7th.

Some students also feel fine about the phone policy, but quite a few students think it’s not needed in school.

“I don’t think it’s necessary, but there’s really no problem with keeping the policy,” says Ragg Gupta, 7th.

Some students think that the policy is too restrictive. Many dislike the fact that we can’t use our phones during lunch and think that it would be fair if we could use our phones in the hallways.

“I feel like it’s a good idea, but it would be nice if students are allowed to use it in the hallways but not in class,” said Ty Smith, 7th.

The necessity of the policy can be debated, but school officials say it is needed to help the students not use the phones during class. Remember: we can only use our phones before 8:45 and after 4:00.  We have to get permission from our teachers or other WSMS staff to use it otherwise.
