Marvel fans patiently wait as the Black Widow movie release date gets pushed back a second time.
Black Widow was originally set for May 1, 2020, then set for November 6, 2020, but due to COVID-19, Disney pushed the release date back again. Now, the action and adventure film will officially hit U.S. theaters on May 7, 2021.
“The first Marvel movie I watched was The Avengers, and Black Widow was one of the leads in that, so it’s really cool to see that I finally get to learn her backstory,” said Katelyn Coleman, 8.
Black Widow is set in the past of Natasha Romanoff: a talented spy, assassin, and founding member of the Avengers. In the Marvel movies, her past never gets discussed. The upcoming Black Widow will go more in-depth on her backstory.
“I didn’t like having to wait for so long for a new Marvel movie,” said Gabriel Sofia, 8.
Black Widow will be the first Marvel movie to be released since Spiderman: Far From Home which was released in June 2019, creating the longest release gap since the Marvel Cinematic Universe started.
“I like Natasha because she proves that women can be as strong and as powerful as men,” said Hannah Gapp, 8.
Natasha Romanoff was the only female founding member of the Avengers and is a widely loved representation of an empowering female character.
“Black Widow was my favorite superhero when I was little, so I’m really excited to see a movie all about her,” said Marissa Waldrop, 8.
Black Widow will be released on May 7, 2021, and is definitely a movie to anticipate.
