Every day, people all over the world deal with the loss of a loved one and aren’t sure how to cope with it.
“I felt sad when I lost my grandpa because he was my best friend, and I looked up to him,” said Lauren Morris, 7.
For many people, the loss of a loved one causes sadness, anger, loneliness, and can be overwhelming. Sometimes, we have a hard time accepting the passing and forget to take care of our mental health. We get caught up in our emotions and can’t adapt to the change.
“I spent time with the people who reminded me of them and tried not to be alone,” said Cheyenne McDonald, 7.
On the other hand, there are many ways to help cope with a loss. Spending time with family members and close friends can help you feel safe and comforted. Talking to someone about your problems with losing a loved one can help you because it releases feelings that might be trapped inside.
“The hardest thing about losing someone you love is that you’ll never see them again,” said Harper Waldrip, 7.
Although the death of a loved one can be both physically and mentally draining, talking to someone and expressing emotions can help.
