How does technology enhance children’s lives?

Technology can provide many opportunities for children to learn, socialize, build character and independence. Children of our generation are growing up with endless possibilities at their fingertips.

“Technology gives you the convenience to share, create, and find whatever you want,” said Jasmine Shepard, 8.

Children that use technology have freedom that other children may not. They have access to many learning opportunities. The internet provides many learning games, apps, and lots of websites.

“We use a lot of websites at school to help us learn. Websites like Google Classroom, Big Ideas Math, GoFormative, and many others help us do work in class,” said Reeyan Ahmed, 7.

Furthermore, technology has ways for children to socialize and meet people from all over the world. Children learn to become friends with other people on apps, games, sites, etc. This encourages children to make friends with people they don’t know and teaches them to make friends in an uncomfortable situation.

“Socializing online can help you find interest with others online and meet people you normally wouldn’t meet on a daily basis. You can talk with people all over the world,” said Ella Woods, 8.

Likewise, children who use the internet receive a sense of self-determination and empowerment. Children with technology become independent. What they post or create online is something of their own and can be something original.

“Posting online can exemplify yourself and can express who you truly are. Also, posting can make others see what they would not normally see,” said Lilianne Blevins, 7.

As this generation of children grows up, they are getting more and more enhancements with all the technology they have.
