The medical benefits of CBD and THC

States have started to legalize THC (the chemical in marijuana that possesses all the benefits) for the health benefits and some others have for recreational use.

“The difference from CBD and THC is CBD is healthier than THC,” said Kollin Yow, 7.

Though some states have legalized weed, it might mean for medical use instead of recreational use. CBD is the oil extracted from marijuana and hemp. Hemp is a cannabis plant like marijuana.

“ I know one benefit of CBD/THC is it makes you more relaxed,” said Delaney Russel, 8.

CBD is the healthier alternative to THC. THC connects with a cannabinoid called CB1 that produces a feeling of being high. CBD, on the other hand, barely connects with CB1 and sometimes even blocks THC from connecting. CBD helps with inflammation, seizures, pain, psychosis/mental disorders, nausea, migraines, depression, and anxiety. THC can help with pain, muscle spasms, glaucoma, insomnia, low appetite, nausea, and anxiety.

“I think weed should be legalized for medical use but not recreational,” said Eric Oesterling, 8.

Even though THC helps with some things, there are some side effects, like increased heart rate, slow reaction, and memory loss. CBD doesn’t have any side effects. Though it can be good for you, it is not legal in the state of Texas unless for medical use. CBD is the best option for your health.
