The cold and flu strikes again in America, making it one of the worst seasons with over 1,300 deaths this year.

“The number one way to prevent the flu is to get the vaccine,” said Mrs Young, School Nurse.

More advice to avoid the flu is to try to avoid sick people and don’t touch areas were the sick people have recently touched. If you do get infected you should limit your time around people, take prescribed medicine, and get lots of rest. 

According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) they say that over 80,000 people died of the flu in 2018

The flu also has some big history. The flu came to America from European explorers and from Southeast Asia. 

“You should always cover your cough and avoid the sick,” said Young.

You can get the flu from an infected individual or from germs. All doctors say that you should wash your hands and get the vaccination. 

 All of these facts and tips will help you if a family member gets the flu or a cold or if you do too.
