Every day, more people all over the world are embracing a lifestyle called minimalism because it shows them how to have more with less.
According to the founders of “The Minimalists”, John Feilds Milburn and Ryan Nicodemus, minimalism is “a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives. By clearing the clutter from life’s path, we can all make room for the most important aspects of life: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.”
Although minimalism is a lifestyle opposite the one we are used to, it decreases stress, reduces waste, and brings peace– all through reducing material possessions. Although the application of minimalism varies, all minimalists try to reduce what they have in one way or another. For some, it could be reducing accessories and furniture, and for others, it could be getting rid of their car and job.
“I think that minimalism can benefit you a lot because it declutters your life and lets the important things in. Minimalism helps you focus and destress, and makes it easier to concentrate on your work,” said Baruni Ramasay, 7.
Many minimalists find that living with less can recenter your focus and highlight what’s important. In fact, one of the many famous minimalists with these beliefs was Albert Einstein. Through living a minimalist lifestyle, Einstein found that he could weed out his mental junk and make the important things his center.
“I think minimalism could be really helpful, especially when we want to focus on what’s important. Not everything in life is about materialism,” Tiernan Miller, 7.
Even though minimalism is against the norm, it benefits many people throughout the world.
