WSMS hosted a Fall Band Concert on September 30 at LHS from 6:30-7:30 to show off their talented members.

“The students played very well!  They had an excellent grasp on all the notes and rhythms, and they played with appropriate style for each piece as well.  They played with great dynamics and it was really exciting,” said Martha Ball, Band Director.

The students practiced for weeks and were finally ready to show us what they’ve got.

“We worked on the pieces for about four weeks,” said Ball.

The experienced band members play a variety of instruments, performing different fall pieces to showcase their advanced abilities.

“There are 14 different sections in the band:  Flutes, oboes, bassoons, clarinets, bass clarinets, alto saxophones, tenor saxophones, baritone saxophone, trumpets, French horns, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, and percussion, so it can be up to 22 different parts all happening at the same time,” said Ball.

The band’s next concert is at the Fine Arts Festival on Friday, December 6, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the Lovejoy High School Auditorium. They hope to see you there.
