More than books were offered in the library this week. With painted boards, scrabble parts, pages from literature samples, clothespins and more, students  made crafts at  ‘Dine and Design’ during ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ lunches Thursday and Friday, Nov. 2-3.

“At Dine and Design we make crafts. And today we made this bulletin board things so that you can hang them up and pin stuff on it, and it’s really fun. I joined because I like making crafts and I thought that it would be interesting. I hope that there will be more of these throughout the year because it was nice to work in a different environment,” seventh-grader, Sneha Manikhandan, said.

Students created different crafts, including a rose made out of book pages along with two other creatively-driven pieces of art led by Library Media Specialist Beth Lowry and Library Aid Linda Jones.

“We created Dine and Design to give people a chance to come to the library if they often don’t and do something that they don’t really get to do during the school day. It’s kinda like a stress reliever for some people. We’re amazed at the creations the kids have done,” Lowry said.

Dine and Design was completely free and no sign-up was required. Students were able to express themselves in the form of crafting and creativity.

“I came because I wanted to try something new and hang out with Mrs. Lowry and Mrs. Jones,” eighth-grader, Bella Ospina, said.
