Food, family, friends, and football all come together for one event every year since 2007 at Lovejoy: Leopard Friday. Red, black, and white decorations cover every surface while everyone in the Lovejoy district comes together to celebrate this event.

Leopard Friday is an annual celebration that consists of multiple activities such as a dunk tank, face-painting station, multiple booths to check out, and a football game afterward. Many, such as Monique Cardwell, administrative assistant at Willow Springs Middle School, think that Leopard Friday brings people in the community together.

“I think that it’s important to have Leopard Friday because it’s a tradition that Lovejoy started so many years ago, and I think that it’s important in communities to have a tradition that brings people together,” Cardwell said.

Leopard Friday is a celebration for students and staff at Lovejoy. People come together to support the Leopards and the Lovejoy spirit, and that’s exactly what happened September 22. Even though the Leopards suffered a hard loss of 7-50, many laughs, smiles, and high-fives were exchanged on the spirit-filled night.

Students crowd into the bleachers to support and watch the game.
